Safety First in all Toddler Toys

In giving your toddler, toys to play with, the number one thing you should always keep in your mind is safety. Even though these little charming and adorable toddler toys look cute and cuddly, this does not mean you should be negligent and worry-free about giving them to your precious one.

One way you can make sure that playtime is safe for your toddler is to always remove any plastic wrapping, covering or packaging of a before giving it to your little tyke for these may suffocate your kid if out of curiosity he puts his head inside them.

Another thing you should always remember is to watch out for tiny pieces that may pose as choking hazards to your kid. A should never have removable pieces that are small enough to fit inside his mouth. We know how toddlers are, they put inside their mouths anything that can fit in there. So it’s better safe than sorry.

Also, check the paint, print or finish of the toddler toy. It should be made of fabric and materials that are non-toxic and does not contain any amount of lead since this is poisonous. Again, toddlers love putting things inside their mouths and you don’t want to risk your kid chewing on a toy that contains harmful substances.

Check to make sure that they do not have sharp or rough edges and points, broken parts, or holes that that can hurt your little kid or pinch his fingers. Don’t give your kid toys that have long cords or ropes because this can end up strangling your baby. Also be sure that toy you give is properly and carefully assembled following directions in the manual. Make sure that there are no loose parts that your kid can pull out and choke on.

Always follow the age recommendation indicated in the toy’s packaging. If the toy says it’s designed for two-year-olds, don’t say that your 10 month old is smart and can handle that toy. Toddler toys that are not made for the age of your baby means that they’re not safe your baby.

When your baby naps or sleeps, be sure to take out all his toys out of the crib including rattles, plush toys, teethers, and many others so that he can have a comfortable and safe rest.

If your baby has a toy box or chest, it is ideal for it not to have a lid that can slam on your kid’s little hands or head or may trap him inside. Also, it should not contain any hinges that could hurt his little fingers.

Lastly, buy toddler toys only from reputable toy makers to ensure that they are made of the highest standards of safety. Toymakers like Baby Einstein and Fisher Price are known for creating brain stimulating toys that are guaranteed safe to be played by your tyke’s tiny hands.

Playtime should always be a fun time for baby, mommy and daddy. And with all safety precautions considered, it can be a very nice bonding time that your kid will love spending with you.
